Summary/translation of main points:

Takeda says that they were thinking of making a movie from the time the TV series started airing. After it aired, people were saying they wanted to see more, and they had confidence that this work could be handed down for 10 years like Eva. But when he talked about it to Imaishi while the TV series was still going, he was told "No way!"

So what is the movie about? They were first thinking of making it a summary of the TV series, but don't intend to just rearrange it and end it like that. The theme is "revival." Becoming resolved, Imaishi said "I'll show something that is and is not Gurren Lagann!" and began writing great plans, but of course they were turned down. Apparently they had the following requisites for participating on the music project:
-They are free to chose any song they want, but it must be on the OST
-They must animate from 800 to 1000 key-frames, no more no less.
-The contents of the video had to be approved by Imaishi and Nakajima

On the movie, he declares himself impressed and says the level of polish Imaishi seems to be going for. Even the scenes that are obviously “reused” from the TV show look completely different, it’s very even comparable to the improvement behind the Rebuild movies.

Comme dans le Focus de Tsuka sur Imaishi, on peut y apprendre qu'il a travaillé sur la série "Abenobashi" (épisode 3 et 12) en tant que storyboardeur et directeur de l'anim', mise en scène. La série a été postée dans son intégrale sur Dailymotion.
