Kevin Gardner's 12 Gauge Comics in conjunction with Artxilla and Image Comics present “Shotgun Summer,” Featuring: the Artxilla Tatsy Treats sketchbook. The 64-page, full color book features images from Artxilla members, including Ed McGuinness, Lesean Thomas, Keron Grant and Sanford Greene.
"The individual artists contributed for the sketchbook, Gardner said it was all up to them – no suggestions were offered. “These guys know what they are doing, and above all, know what their fans want to see,” Gardner said. “It’s been really fun to see the style and energy they are bringing to this sketchbook, which has really turned into a true ‘art book.’ Brian Stelfreeze is doing all the design work, which is kind of neat, because it is like bringing two schools together on one project. I just get out of the way.”
With other sketchbooks out there, the addition of Stelfreeze on design was a key to making Artxilla Tasty Treats stand out, as was the decision to go with full color. “When you look at any book, high quality is the first thing that jumps out,” Gardner said. “The production on this book will be second to none. We picked a fantastic printer, so this book will just look gorgeous. On top of that, all the Artxilla guys want their pages to be the best in the book, so that is really pushing the quality of the art. They all love and respect what the other does, so they don’t want to let each other down. Usually a sketchbook is just one artist, so getting to see all these diverse characters and concepts in one package is just great!”
